Happy 80th Birthday, Carol Burnett!!!

I just read on Facebook where Carol Burnett turned 80 today.  Can that really be possible!?!

How did time go by so fast!?!

Two of The Beatles died too young, John murdered when only 40 and George taken by cancer just two months before his 59th birthday.  Had they all survived, their ages would range from 70 through 73 before the end of this year.

How young they look in the picture below!  Even Ed Sullivan doesn't look as old as I remembered him looking when I was eleven and The Beatles appeared on his show.  I guess it's a matter of perspective.

Back in February of 1964, he was 51 years my senior, but the guy I'm looking at here today is only about 2 years older than I am.

It's hard to believe that it's going to be 50 years next year since The British Invasion began--and, I must add, a much more wonderful and positive British Invasion than we went through back in the 18th Century.

There are signs that there will be another revolution here in America more sooner than later--perhaps, in the form of another Civil War, or, perhaps, in the form of another World War.

Or, perhaps (and I hope), it will take the form of a peaceful revolution.

I'm weary of war.  We've had too much of it.

But we do need a revolution because there are a lot of things that need changing for the better.

What if somebody decided to throw a war, but nobody showed up to participate?

What if, instead, we decided to go this route?

I believe that we can do it if enough people would make the right choices to bring it about.

Don't look to see if anybody else is doing it!  Just make your own decision.

still reminds me so much of him.

I wanted to get a birthday tribute posted for my very special friend, Roberto, while it was still his birthday, so, I'm putting up this much of it now and will be adding more to it over the next hour or so.

It will still be his birthday where his son is now living--and will still be his birthday several places in the world even after that.
As Roberto was always a traveler of the world, this fits well.

The video at the very bottom of this blog-entry reminds me of his love of the dance and how he always wanted to encourage others to dance--not only on the dance floor but, also, within their souls!

Whenever I hear the song The Older The Violin The Sweeter The Music, I'm taken back to a very special day in 1975.

This was the day when Roberto turned 48.  I hope you'll read the story to which I've linked you to find out more about how we met, his birthday, other times, and that sad day in 1978 when I heard of his untimely death.

I had thought for a long time that he had been killed in the wee hours of the morning (September 12, 1978), but I guess this actually took place on September 11, 1978--a closer-to-home version of 9-11.

It's the same with Uncle Jim (James Walter Phillips who lived at the Marion, Indiana Veterans Hospital for several years prior to his passing).  He passed away during the night in 2001, and I'm not sure if his passing took place on September 12 or September 11.  It would have been fitting for his passing to have been on September 11, 2001, because he was a veteran who gave a whole lot when it came to World War II where he served in one of the most dangerous assignments:  as one those who flew in The Gliders and parachuted into enemy territory.

I had often wondered what had become of Roberto's son (only 12 when his dad was taken from him) and feel so blessed to have recently come across him in a few places on The Internet, with two of those places being Facebook and Twitter.  "Little Roberto" is now just a year younger than his dad was on April 11, 1975, and he's amazing!!!

The feelings expressed in the following songs (even though they're about babies and children who are still young instead of being 47 and the stories are different than what happened in the case of Roberto) remind me of how I feel when I see the man this little boy has become and how I wish that Roberto's grandchildren could have gotten to have him in their lives on this side of life.  Someday, the circle will no longer be broken!
